Question 7 evaluation

Powered by emaze

And now finally here is our title sequence.....

Question 2 Evaluation

Play This Quiz!

In the title sequence we took inspiration from films we have watched and the experiences we ourselves have faced as teenagers. This is good for a teen drama especially a youth drama as we can portray first hand the emotions and thoughts youth have in particular situations. As Bend It Like Beckham touched on similar topics to the topics we spoke about in our film opening, we looked at that as inspiration to see how they made their opening. Also, in many films teenagers are seen as badly behaved and disorderly. Despite some teens being like this, the majority are not like this so we wanted to show the other aspects of many teens, religious, kindhearted and god fearing. Of course, many teens can fall victim to peer pressure and we also wanted to show this.

We showed the contrast of worlds, by having the two different locations and the loss of the hijab when the main character is with her friends. The mosque in the first image is the main place for muslim worship, the image below is Owens Park, a place used for smoking which is frowned upon in islam. In addition to this, in the lower picture the main character is surrounded by boys in hooded tops, this is a stereotype used a lot in media for antisocial behaviour, this is one social group we represented in our title sequence.

Similarly, in Bend It Like Beckham, we see contrast with the main character wearing traditional religious garments when in the religious setting with her family, but with her friends she is not, instead she wears more Western clothing, this is just one of the aspects we took from this film.

Formally closing off my blog

I am now formally closing off my blog

Review

I think that our blog has been successful as we have covered alot and showed the processes we went through along the way of producing and editing our final piece. We were able to identify our target audience through research and catered to them accordingly.

In the filming process a lot of clips and scenes were made, giving us more than enough to choose from when editing, this made it much easier in the process, so much so that we didnt need to use all the scenes for our final film.

I was able to produce 51 blogs. If I could go back and change anything I would have added more photo evidence of planning, filming and editing.

Camera shots / angles

We used a number of shots, movement and angles in our film to make it look as professional and interesting as possible. These shots include:

Medium shots
Close Ups
Extreme Close Ups
Over the Shoulder
Establishing Shot
Locked Down Shot
Tracking Shot
Arc Shot
Eye Level Shot

Evidence of editing

Here I am editing the video we made and also looking at the blog to make sure everything is up to date.

Engaging our target audience

By having a website on Wix, it is easier to grab our target audience. As our target audience are teenagers, they are frequent users of the internet and find out about alot of news via the web. A website will bring traffic to our film. We could also make a Twitter account and Facebook account to reach our audience as it is a way of interacting with them.

Visual Effects

This shows what can be done by using visual effects professionally, we also used visual effects such as split screen and dissolve fades.

Blogging health check 3

Below is the feedback I was given for the blogs I did so far:

Hi Jonathan

Just in case you haven't seen it on promonitor, here is your feedback from blogging health check 3 which was done over half term.

You have added some more work on planning but you still need to demonstrate that you have thought about the target audience. Look at the target audiences for some teen films (particular those that have influenced you) and consider how this compares to the target audience that you have in mind for your film.
You also need to include more reflection on the filming and editing that you have done. Make sure that you talk in detail about what has gone well and if you faced any challenges or needed to reshoot. You should also post any pictures that you have of filming and editing.
In general, you need to elaborate more in your posts and think more carefully about how you are presenting them.

Let me know if you have any questions

How to create titles in motion

You use the motion application that provides templates to create your title sequence.

You are given the option whether you want to make a sequence from a template or make your own from scratch.
There are a range of templates to choose from .

Once you have selected and made your title, export your title to your desired format so it can be use in other softwares.

Representation of Religion in our film

Mise En Scene

In our film we have the East London mosque, which is a place that is used for worship within the Muslim community and a key location for the plot we wanted to show. The rooms are filled with books and Arabic designs. In contrast we have Owens park, a place used for smoking, this shows the haraam element of the main character, as smoking is seen as bad in the Muslim religion.

Music

We begin our film with some arabic music that fits nicely with the muslim themes we wanted to portray in the first half of our opening. This is then contrasted with rap music that is so far removed from muslim culture.

Editing

In our film we have alot of slowed down scenes such as the unraveling of the main characters head scarf. These slowed down scenes are to emphasise key transitions between Muslim and haraam behaviour and vice versa.

Problems we faced when editing

When we began editing our film and tried to add the title sequences we found that the arabic font that we wanted was not coming up on final cut pro. As a solution we reinstalled the font and made the title sequences again.

Editing our blog (sound) 5/04/15

We have now successfully put together the videos in the sequence that we will be putting it in our title sequence. Now we are picking the sound to go behind our title sequence to set the up-beat youth drama that we intend to potray to our audience.
